Stop qualifying unique.

I told you this before, but you continue to ignore the Great and Terrible Captain Cucamunga. His disappointment with you is mild. He’ll get over it.

Unique means one-of-a-kind. Something or someone unique is one-of-a-kind. An entity cannot be very one-of-a-kind, but it can be more or less different than other entities one-of-a-kind or not. When you say that something or someone is, “very unique,” you mean very different from its peers.

Pedantry? Of course it’s pedantry. Usage dictates meaning. I’ll let you qualify unique in speech but not in print. I have to draw the line somewhere. Do you want the world to descend into chaos?
