Prodigal
To be prodigal is to be wastefully extravagant or to be careless with your literal or figurative wealth. A spendthrift is prodigal.
The prodigal son of scripture is not prodigal because he revolted against his family and returned. He is prodigal because he dissipated his wealth (and possibly health).
